Southwest Saskatchewan

WHO WE ARE

Many of our relatives lived in this area. One of the first families was the Lemeres, that lived on the Point at Lac Pelletier. A group lived at the Saskatchewan Landing, including LaPlantes, LaRocques, Pritchards, Fayants, and others. These resettled into Swift Current and south.

A large group lived around Lac Pelletier, Whitefords, Parenteaus, LaRocques, Lemires, Adams', Pelletiers, Leveilles (Lavallees), Fagnants (Fayants), and Bonneaus. Gunns homesteaded south of Swift Current, but moved nearer the lake. Around Notre Dame (now called Ponteix) was Trottiers, Lamottes, Lasantis', and Rouzalts. Trottiers moved nearer Val Marie, and also Legault.

Today, many of the descendants of these families have left the southwest and live across Canada and the U.S.A.

We are collecting the stories of these descendants as a quick picture into their everyday life.
